PARAGON Janus CT122822: Wide, Welcoming, and Ready for the Studio
PARAGON CT122822 Janus: Maximum Capacity, Maximum Versatility—for Clay and Glass Alike
The Paragon Janus 27 Kiln is a versatile, dual-chamber kiln designed for ceramic artists, potters, and studios seeking efficiency and precision. Featuring two separate chambers with a combined firing space of 28" wide x 22.25" deep, it allows you to fire bisque and glaze loads simultaneously or separately. This front-loading kiln reaches temperatures up to Cone 10 (2350°F), suitable for stoneware, porcelain, and high-fire ceramics. The Janus 27 offers independent digital controllers for each chamber, giving you full control over firing schedules. Its robust construction includes thick firebrick insulation and durable hardware, making it a reliable choice for both production and educational use. Perfect for maximizing studio productivity while maintaining high-quality results.
Built on the Ceramic Top legacy—now with Janus dual-fire functionality.
The PARAGON CT Series has earned its reputation in classrooms, ceramic studios, and production environments for one reason: reliability backed by thoughtful engineering. The PARAGON CT122822 Janus elevates that tradition by combining a massive 12-sided firing chamber with a dual-mode heating system designed for both ceramics and glass. If you work across mediums or want the flexibility to grow into new techniques, this kiln is your studio’s ultimate workhorse.
Why choose the PARAGON CT122822 Janus?
The CT122822 Janus features a 28” interior diameter and 22” interior height, delivering a spacious 8.11 cubic feet of firing capacity. It’s ideal for production-scale pottery, oversized platters, and fully loaded multi-shelf firings. The kiln’s wide profile makes it easier to load than deeper models, making it especially popular with high-output studios and educational facilities.
Even better, it’s rated to cone 10, delivering dependable performance for all clay bodies—from low-fire earthenware to high-fire porcelain and stoneware. And with Janus dual-mode technology, it’s also a powerful tool for slumping, sagging, and fusing glass on a grand scale.
Janus Dual-Mode Firing: Two Programs, One Kiln
What makes the Janus edition unique is its dual heating system, with elements in both the top and sidewalls. A built-in toggle switch lets you select the right firing mode for your material:
-
Glass Mode: activates the top and middle sidewall elements, giving you uniform top-down heat for fusing or shaping large glass sheets on a single shelf.
-
Pottery Mode: activates only the sidewall elements—ideal for ceramics, allowing even surround heat for multi-shelf bisque or glaze firings up to cone 10.
It’s the best of both worlds, without compromising space or performance.
