Making Ceramics:
IMPORTANT: Firing Ceramics and applying glazes MUST BE done in a well ventilated area. This oven is to be used for low temp ceramics that do not need to exceed 2200F.
Ceramics are an area of art most of the population knows about. Most of us have had the ability to work with clay in art class during school to create a vase, bowl, sculpture, etc. The endless opportunities from working with clay are amazing to create your work of art. The most important part outside of the design of the clay, is firing the clay. Once fired the clay goes from clay/mud to ceramic and becomes a lot more durable.
What is Firing?
Firing is the process that changes the clay into ceramic form. This ceramic form is strong and more durable. Typically the work is fired twice. The first step is to bisque fire it. Bisque is the term used for this first part of firing. This creates a durable but porous piece of art. The second is to glaze fire the piece. Since the piece is now porous, this will allow the glaze to soak into the piece.
The temperature used during firing is all dependent not only on the clay used, but also on the glaze. You must make sure that the glaze and clay are withing the specifications of the kiln being used. If you burn a low temp clay or glaze at too high of a temp, the clay could melt and the glaze could run off and not stick to the piece.
Constructed to last
Hotshot ovens are specifically designed with the end user in mind. Hot Shot ovens feature a full swing side opening door to allow safe and easy insertion and removal of material as well as a cool-to-touch one-handed handle made from high-quality stainless steel for easy opening and closing.
Hot Shot ovens are constructed with a high-quality powder-coated shell. The high-density fiber insulation in a Hot Shot oven is machined to high tolerance specifications so that each piece fits perfectly together to provide a proper seal, ensuring that it will maintain its temperature and work efficiently to prevent loss of heat. Each oven comes with a removable high-density floor. This is ideal to assist with project setup or if it needs to be replaced.
Hot Shot uses Kanthal A1 heating elements, a type K thermocouple and every oven comes standard with a solid state relay at no additional charge.

Advanced Features
Solid State Relay
Unlike many other ovens & kilns all Hot Shot ovens come standard with a solid state relay. Having a solid state relay eliminates the distractive clicking noise that a mechanical relay makes. A solid state relay is also more dependable and provides a longer life expectancy than that of a mechanical relay.
Programmable Alarm
Each unit comes standard with an integrated alarm that can be set to alert the user when a desired point or temperature is reached in the program.
Safety Door Switch
We also have integrated a safety door switch that will de-energize the heating
element when the door is open.
TAP SET & GO CONTROLLER (Standard Controller)
Introducing TAP&Go – our most simplified TAP Controller yet! The TAP&Go is a single setpoint controller, designed specifically for heat treat, firing metal clay, knife-making, or users who don’t need to execute complex firings. With TAP&Go – just enter the temperature you want the kiln or oven to heat to, and let the controller do the work.
BARTLETT GENESIS SPARK (Controller Upgrade)
The Genesis Spark is an advanced upgrade for Hot Shot Ovens, featuring industry-specific presets, 30 customizable programs, and Wi-Fi capabilities for seamless software updates, built-in diagnostics, and automatic PID adjustments. It integrates with the Bartlett Kiln Aid app, allowing you to monitor your kiln remotely and receive real-time alerts about its firing process.
TAP II (Controller Upgrade)
The TAP II offers unlimited program storage and can be easily programmed either directly on the screen or via the free mobile app. The TAP mobile app enables users to create and monitor programs in real time, set notifications, view detailed firing logs with minute-by-minute data, and receive push notifications about operation schedules. Additionally, the TAP controller provides access to maintenance schedules and allows you to adjust ongoing programs as needed.
